Muscat is famous for many historical landmarks, the most important of which are the Al-Jalali and Al-Mirani Forts, which were built by the Portuguese, and the Al-Alam Palace, which was known as the House of Knowledge and was inhabited by Sultan Saeed bin Taimur and before him Sultan Taimur bin Faisal, and it was known as the Al-Alam Palace after it was rebuilt by Sultan Qaboos.
The museum includes two of the largest display boxes in the world, and seeks to preserve the tangible and intangible evidence and holdings that make up the history and culture of Oman, and the city of Muscat constitutes an open museum that expresses an extended past and a living civilization.
Tourists can enjoy the beautiful scenery in gardens, parks and tourist places such as the Diving Club, Bandar Al-Rawdah and Barr Al-Jissah Tourist Resort, in addition to the quiet beaches with their soft sands, the most important of which are Qurum Beach, Al-Athaiba Beach, Al-Jissah Beach and Al-Bustan Palace Hotel Beach.
